Stream: Learning through unions

Leaders in Learning - New Publication

This is a must read for all ULRs, employers, union officers and politicians. It is packed with solid case study evidence of how employers and unions working in partnership to deliver workplace learning can benefit both the organisation and the workforce.

Cover Thumbnail Leaders in Learning is a new unionlearn* publication setting out how management and union learning partnerships can pay major dividends for businesses and organisations, not only by improving shop floor morale but by directly boosting the bottom line.

"Working with the trade unions has been absolutely fantastic - that's certainly been one of the key planks of our success," says Merseytravel Chief Executive Officer Neil Scales in one of three key interviews in the publication exploring crucial aspects of workplace learning.

And in the introduction, Business in the Community Executive Director - Skills and Talent Graham Bann says: "Having worked with many businesses to help them develop the talent on their payroll, we know that the 22,000 fully-trained union learning reps now active right across the country have a vital role to play in successful learning partnerships."

Leaders in Learning also contains 10 case studies of a wide variety of organisations who have developed successful workplace learning partnerships, including Boots Logistics, Fletchers Bakery, JCB, BVT Surface Fleet and the Crown Prosecution Service.
