North West TUC
North West unionlearn is actively involved in helping trade unions and employers work in partnership to improve employees' access to workplace learning and development and, in turn, enhance the competitiveness of organisations and the employability of individuals.
Unionlearn believes that working in partnership to increase the skills and knowledge base of North West employees is key to sustained economic development and improved competitiveness within the Region. We are working with the 5 LSCs and the RDA in the Region and are supporting their work on Skills for Life and upskilling the workforce. Our Digital Divide project is supporting Learning Centres across the North West openinig up learning opportunities for people and we are working with Aimhigher to help people identify the opportunities that higher education can offer.
unionlearn has project workers in the North West who can offer assistance to affiliate unions, and through them to employers. We are able to offer support on most lifelong learning initiatives, including Investors in People, NVQs, Skills for Life, Apprenticeship, and more.

Wavertree MP Jane Kennedy visited Tesco (Friday 19th June) in Old Swan to see for herself the impact trade unions are having on helping staff to improve their skills. The Union of Shopworkers, Distribution and Allied Workers (USDAW) with the support of unionlearn, the TUC's learning and skills organisation, and Tesco have established a learning initiative that enables staff based at the store to develop their own potential and career opportunities.
