Bakers' union learning rep briefs Minister on skills
Union learning rep (ULR) Karol Moscinski, who works at Pennine Foods, briefed David Lammy MP, Minister for Skills on trade union-led learning at Pennine in Sheffield. Karol spoke to the Minister at a unionlearn (the TUC's learning and skills organisation) reception at TUC Congress in Brighton, where Prime Minister Gordon Brown addressed the Congress dinner on Tuesday. Also speaking at the reception were TUC Deputy General Secretary Frances O'Grady and unionlearn Director Liz Smith. Recent YouGov polling for the TUC showed that eight in ten (79 per cent) people working in Yorkshire and the Humber support a new legal right to request paid time off for training and 59 per cent say they would be likely to use it.
