As a union learning representative, what would you give to find out more about Diplomas and 14-19 learning?

How about one day of your time ? You can join a free 14-19 briefing workshop where you will receive an up-to-date electronic toolkit of information, strategies and support resources to use in your work with further education colleagues.

Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK), alongside the University and College Union (UCU), the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) and Unison are working together on these new development opportunities for trade union learning representatives in the further education sector.

The workshop will provide updates on the main strands of 14-19 learning so that you'll be aware of all the key roles involved in effective delivery. With a maximum of 35 participants at each workshop, you'll have plenty of time to network and build relationships with colleagues carrying out a similar role.

Why do I need to know about 14-19 learning?

Many union members within further education are now involved in 14-19 provision, and may feel they need support and encouragement in developing new skills to deliver the Diploma.

The Unionlearn movement is uniquely placed to provide this support, as union learning representatives within further education directly encourage the development of their membership - both teaching and teaching support staff.

Why should I attend?

By attending this event, delegates will:

  • find out how to ensure further education staff are confident in their roles delivering 14-19
  • receive an electronic toolkit of information and support specific to further education
  • find out how to stay updated on the latest developments in 14-19 learning
  • access resources that enable you to cascade information more efficiently and save time
  • network and build contacts with fellow trades union learning representatives in your region
  • enhance your own professional practice.

If you're not a union learning representative but work with members who support learners...

We have a limited number of places available for other union representatives who would benefit from this workshop.

When and where can I attend a workshop?

Workshops run from 9:45am - 4pm on the following days:

  • Leeds: Saturday 13th February 2010
  • Birmingham: Saturday 6th March 2010
  • London: Saturday 13th March 2010

The events are free to attend, including lunch and refreshments. Travel expenses can be claimed to an event in your region.
