Create Your Own Future is a new tool that has been built around a programme of support to help users prepare for future careers.
Supported by a virtual mentor, users can identify their transferable skills and become inspired and motivated to gain new skills that will be matched to job opportunities and training. The bite-size courses provide support for creating CVs, time management, study skills and much more.

The tool was produced in partnership with the developers, Saffron Interactive, and with funding from Nesta, CareerTech Challenge Fund, which is a partnership between Nesta and the Department for Education, that supports the development of innovative services that help people navigate the changing labour market and learn the skills they need for the future of work.
Create Your Own Future offers a range of support to begin and plan for career changes. To get started:
- Go to the Create your own future tool https://createyourownfuture.unionlearn.org.uk/ to register. A welcome page will appear which will ask you to register or sign in.
- Once you have signed in you will be met by one of the virtual mentors who will guide you to the home page.
- There will be some initial sign-up questions and then you will be prompted to select your mentor. Don’t worry if you don’t know which mentor to choose, take the short quiz and a suggestion will be made for you.
- You can now work through each of the sections, at your own pace. Your mentor will support you along your journey.
