Applications for Union Learning Representatives Courses In order to improve the co-ordination of courses for Union Learning Representatives (ULR) and to maximise training resources, TUC Education in Scotland will collate all applications for Union Learning Rep courses in Scotland. In order to assist with the process, please send all applications to: Harry Cunningham Education and Training Officer TUC Education in Scotland 'John Smith House' 145 - 165 West Regent Street Glasgow, G2 4RZ t : 0141 404 1746, f: 0141 332 6157, e: tucedscotland@tuc.org.uk The intention is not to discourage Trade Union Studies Centres from advertising and recruiting their own ULR* courses or to discourage unions from commissioning courses with specific TUC Centres, but to further supplement these important initiatives. Too often we have had a situation where courses have failed to recruit and a small number of applications for training are being held on file. By pooling applications centrally, we will be able to hold applications until a viable class size is reached. Once a viable class size has been reached, applications will then be passed on to the relevant TUC course coordinator for action. A pooled centralised list will be used to: Commission courses with an appropriate centre when sufficient applications have been received. Supplement applications to make an advertised or scheduled course viable, Combine applications from across unions to ensure the viability of a single union course. The intention is to optimise training resources for ULRs and to ensure that applicants receive their training as soon as possible.
