MP for Brent South Dawn Butler said: 'I am delighted to be here to see so many of my constituents celebrate their achievements in learning. It takes courage to admit that you need to brush up on your Maths, English or IT and it takes dedication to enrol on a course and find the time to do it. So I am really pleased that First and Unite are working together to help people get that second, third or even fourth chance at education. My congratulations to all the winners, but also to everyone at First who is improving their skills, to be a part of their achievement, even in a small way is an honour.' Adrian Jones, MD First London said: 'Working together with Unite means that we have been able to really gear up our learning programme and enable staff to improve their skills. This has brought great benefits to First, it's staff and in turn to all our customers in the London area. The awards are a great way of celebrating what our staff have achieved this year.' Barry Francis, unionlearn Regional Manager said: 'First is a great example of a company which takes learning seriously for its staff. They have signed the Skills Pledge* and have a Learning Agreement, but their commitment is also backed up on the ground, which this celebration shows.'
