Skilled for Success

Thumbnail Did your Learning at Work Day event highlight some gaps in maths and English skills? Visit our Skills for Life section on the Learning at Work Day website for information on what to do next. Our free downloadable guide on "Leading on Learning" also talks about how to approach Skills for Life* needs. You can also order copies to distribute to managers (50 copies for £52.50 or 200 copies for £200).

If you held a Learning at Work Day event that promoted or supported Skills for Life learning, then you are eligible to enter for the Skills for Life best event award.

Don't forget, if you are promoting Skills for Life in your workplace Get On have some great materials which can be ordered for free from 020 7544 3130 or GetOnteam@fishburn-hedges.co.uk. Enter for an award

There is still time to enter the IIPUK and Skills for Life Best Event Awards for Learning at Work Day as we've extended the deadline to 14 July. So don't delay!

You can also register your interest for the Adult Learners' Week* Awards 2010 in advance of making a nomination next year. The Awards recognise the commitment, interest and passion that adults bring to their learning. Co-ordinated each year by NIACE*, they're a great way of celebrating the achievements of learners, and raising the profile of learning opportunities in your area. Register your interest by completing the online form at www.alw.org.uk

Can you transform informal adult learning? Apply for funding!

The Government's new Learning Revolution Transformation Fund is open to bids for projects and activities that support sustainable informal adult learning. It welcomes bids from the public, private and third sectors and organisations from all backgrounds including culture, heritage, nature, sport, health, community regeneration, broadcasting and technology. The closing date for applications is 12 July, so download a prospectus now!

Event News

The Campaign for Learning is supporting the Skills for the Public Sector 09 conference on 16 September 2009 at the QEII Conference Centre in London. The conference will look at the latest plans for the development of skills in the public sector and how the government intends to deliver a workforce fit for the 21st Century.
