FBU video raises awareness of Dyslexia

The Fire Brigades’ Union (FBU) ULF team has produced a video to raise awareness of Dyslexia in the workplace. The video, which promotes good practice in supporting employees who have dyslexia is now being used by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

BIS report praises unionlearn

A new report by the Business, Innovation and Skills Committee (BIS) says that unionlearn has "achieved outstanding results at a fraction of the cost of full-time formal education".

Further to our recently established agreement with "West College Scotland" to deliver TUC Education Courses for Trade Union Reps at the Paisley Campus we are still recruiting for the Health & Safety Stage 1 Certificate Course.

The course will be tutored by Billy Caldwell, an experienced TUC Tutor and will run for 10 Tuesdays from 30th September 2014 from 9:00am to 4:00pm at West College Scotland, Renfrew Road, Paisley (formerly Reid Kerr College).

War and workers - unions look back at WW1

More than 200 people in August visited an exhibition showing how working people were affected by the First World War.

Trade unions linked up with community and local history groups across Exeter to run the World of Work event at the Exeter Phoenix Centre on August 9th.

During the day visitors wandered around the exhibition, looking at displays detailing strikes, wartime posters – "are you employing more servants than you need?" – and workers' personal experiences of war, as well as taking part in discussions about wartime Devon.
