This course for union reps has been designed to provide an opportunity for further understanding of equality and diversity issues in relation to race. It aims to provide a positive networking and learning experience and an opportunity to contribute to developing unions' interaction with lay members within the union and workforce.

This course will help experienced safety reps develop their understanding of health and safety principle and practice. NEW ONLINE COURSE: Next Steps for Safety Reps Stage 2 online
This course is designed for health and safety reps that have already completed the TUC Health & Safety Stage 1 course, or its equivalent. The Next Steps for Safety Reps course builds upon the TUC Stage 1 course by further developing confidence, experience, knowledge and skills.

TUC Education Online - the Learner's Perspective
This research project set out to capture trade union representatives' experience of TUC online courses and to explore ways in which TUC Education's online offer could be improved. To capture the experience of students learning online, 1,140 students who applied for TUC online courses during 2006-2007 were contacted and asked to complete a questionnaire. Of the initial 1,140 learners targeted, 260 responded. This paper is based on the responses received from these 260 participants.

Union Reps Stage 1 – online course
You may be known as a shop steward, office representative, staff rep or union steward. However, your responsibilities are the same. They include working together with members and other union reps; talking to members and dealing with their problems; recruiting members and getting them involved in the union; meeting management to discuss a range of issues at work and keeping members in touch with wider issues This is the basic course for union reps. It introduces the concept and provides a thorough basis in the skills needed for carrying out the role.
