Apprenticeships Bill will help more people into skilled work, says TUCResponding to the draft Apprenticeships* Bill, announced today (Wednesday) by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said: 'Today's Bill is a welcome step towards helping more people into skilled work. In today's highly competitive labour market, the need for skills is greater than ever and apprenticeships are an important route into employment. 'The increase in Government funding, focus on improving quality, and the use of procurement to encourage employers to offer training will all help increase the number of apprenticeship places available. Employers must now raise their game and offer more quality work-based apprenticeships. 'The TUC will examine the detail of the Bill in the coming weeks and looks forward to working with the Government and employers in continuing the long overdue resurgence of apprenticeships.'
