embargo: none Jo Brand presents the Financial Services Skills Council with prestigious TUC unionlearn Quality Award Teresa Sayers, CEO Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC) and Jamie Walker, from Unite the Union received the prestigious unionlearn Quality Award from Jo Brand. The award was made for the FSSC's Directions Information and Guidance service at unionlearn's third annual conference in central London. The FSSC is one of over 80 education providers and services to have received the award.

Awards are made to providers who demonstrate that unions and union learners are considered in the design, development and delivery of courses and programmes. Those providers achieving the unionlearn Quality Award will be included on the unionlearn website which receives over three million hits per month. Jo Brand said: ' I know through my time working as a psychiatric nurse that learning benefits not only people's confidence and their careers, but also their health. So I'm pleased today to be supporting the TUC's unionlearn, which has made such a difference to workplace learning.' Teresa Sayers, CEO Financial Services Skills Council said: 'We are delighted to receive the unionlearn Quality Award for our online careers information service, Directions. In the development of this service we have worked very closely with the unions to ensure that the diverse range of interesting job roles in our sector is well represented. We strongly believe that in the current economic climate, it is more important than ever to ensure that there is an objective source of information about careers in the financial sector for learners in the workplace.'
