    The Skills Support for Redundancy (SSR) programme can provide you with access to funded skills training, retraining and careers guidance to help you get back into employment. A dedicated Partnership Coordinator will work with you to identify the best sources of support and training to help you achieve your career goals and get back to work.

    Future Bright

    Future Bright offers FREE career coaching, training and support to help you develop the skills and confidence you need to take your next step - you’ll be matched with a dedicated career coach who will support you to create a personalised action plan. To help people whose income or employment have been affected by the Coronavirus crisis, the eligibility criteria for Future Bright have been temporarily expanded.

    Future Bright can support people who are:

    • Aged 19 and over
    • Living in the West of England – that’s Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire
    • Currently in paid work and receiving benefits or tax credits

    In addition, the expanded service can now also support people whose income or employment have been affected by the Coronavirus crisis, including:

    • Those who have been made redundant, laid off or are at risk of redundancy, as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
    • Employees whose hours have been significantly reduced, and who therefore have a lower income (e.g. zero hours, cut from full to part time)
    • Self-employed workers, where their ability to earn has been severely impacted due to the nature of their business
    • Furloughed employees, if their reduced income means they are eligible for Universal Credit.

    Ways2Work

    Ways2Work is part of Bristol City Council and they work to deliver a wide range of employment support to Bristol residents. Working with partners across Bristol and the West of England they deliver job fairs, host networking meetings, circulate information and link together the various support agencies, colleges and employers in the area to help residents of Bristol and the West of England secure employment.

    Adviza operate the National Careers Service in Cornwall & Isles of Scilly and produce a weekly list of job vacancies for the County.  Visit their website www.adviza.org.uk/services/national-careers-service/regional-redeployment-service to view the list and search for available vacancies.

    The Proud to Care website www.proudtocarecornwall.org.uk is the gateway to finding work in the health and care sector in Cornwall & Isles of Scilly.  Whether you are looking for temporary or permanent work, the website has a list of live vacancies for you to choose from.  

    Self-Employment Support

    You may be thinking of setting up your own businesses.  If so, Outset offer funded support to help you get started. Outset Cornwall offer their introduction to self-employment project; supporting people who are unemployed / inactive to consider self-employment, and to support people to start-up new businesses.  Outset also offer their Start, Run and Grow project which is funded by ERDF and offers business start-up support but more limited personal development support.

    European Social Funded projects: Within Cornwall there are a range of European Social Funded projects which provide additional support to individuals requiring some help to address any barriers to employment or skills training.

    If you need support to identify which project(s) may be best for you, then contact People Hub.  

    Reed in Partnership: Offer a Fast Track Training Programme for individuals who have recent work history but may need some assistance to 'brush up' on some key areas. The programme is be suitable for participants who: 

    • may have been with a business for a while so have no recent interview experience and would benefit from some training and a mock interview with feedback
    • would like to move into alternative sectors and need support in being able to identify and 'sell' their transferable skills
    • recognise it is a competitive jobs market out there so would like support to 'stand out'
    • require help creating a CV and completing application forms
    • would benefit from confidence building and managing anxiety

    To be eligible for the programme, participants must be unemployed, 16+ and have a barrier to employment. Anyone interested in becoming a participant can contact Reed so they can determine eligibility.
