Second Life for Doctor Who as unionlearn launches Quick Read in 3-D virtual world

Terrance Dicks, one of the original screen writers of Doctor Who, recently launched his Quick Read, Revenge of the Judoon, in the virtual world of Second Life?. This is the first virtual launch of a Quick Read book and was hosted by unionlearn*, the TUC's learning and skills organisation, on Union Island, the online community for international trade unionists in virtual reality.

This was the first time the sci-fi guru has visited Second Life where he met and answered questions from union learning reps and other Residents of the virtual world on Revenge of the Judoon. Terrance is also a prodigious author of children's books and Doctor Who novels.

Terrance Dicks said: 'Even though I once wrote a series called 'Confessions of a Computer Game Addict', computers are largely a mystery to me. Anything more advanced than E-mail is beyond me. I'm very much looking forward to appearing on Second Life?.'

Liz Smith, unionlearn Director said: 'It was great to welcome Terrance to our community in Second Life, where he was a deservedly popular guest. It's often said that unionlearn reaches learners that others can't reach and now we're even reaching into virtual worlds too.'
