Promoting Learning in Cheshire West & Chester
The objective of the ULF funded Learning and Skills for All Fund project at Cheshire West & Chester Council was to recruit and train a team of union learning reps (ULRs) in order to embed a learning culture across the council, prioritising learning support for the local government's 6,000 employees across the Council.

Usdaw Checkout Learning – Sustainability case study
Usdaw project continuing to offer a ‘super-store' of learning After 3 successful years as one of the northern region's flagship Learning for All Fund projects, Checkout Learning South has flown the nest, but is continuing all of the good work – and more – it has done previously, thanks to Usdaw's Union Learning Fund (ULF) project. Having engaged with over 300 learners already it is a well established project and a feather in both Usdaw and Tesco's respective caps.

Crosby MP sees firefighters blazing the trail with union learning
Crosby MP Claire Curtis-Thomas visited Crosby Fire Station (Friday 13th March) in Liverpool to see for herself the impact trade unions are having on helping firefighters improve their skills. Union Learning Fund skills for life project 2008 to 2010. In May 2007 Unite set up a North West Taxi Driver Consortium to look at the learning and organising issues regarding taxi drivers. Results to date, 19 new Taxi Driver ULRs, 376 taxi drivers enrolled on a Level 2 NVQ .....

Thousands of adults to gain access to workplace learning thanks to unionlearn
Workplaces across the North West are gearing up for learning schemes, thanks to unionlearn, the TUC's learning and skills organisation. The schemes, known as Pathfinder Projects, are being financed in 19 workplaces by the North West Learning and Skills for All Fund. They will ensure that thousands of adults gain access to learning opportunities within their workplaces.

Finding funding for workplace learning can often be the toughest task facing an employee. So unionlearn in the North West has produced the ‘Money Matters' [PDF] leaflet. It has been written and designed to help workplace learners and employers discover what funding is available for progression to higher education.
