U-Net launched in Watford at union learning reps' forum
Unionlearn, the TUC's learning and skills organisation, will re-launch its network of learning centres which work in partnership with learndirect as U-Net, in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire (Monday 28 July).

U-Net launched in Norwich at union learning reps' forum
Unionlearn, the TUC's learning and skills organisation, will re-launch its network of learning centres which work in partnership with learndirect as U-Net, in Norfolk and Suffolk (Monday 21 July). The national network was re-launched by Skills Minister David Lammy MP in May and today trade unionists from Norfolk and Suffolk will gather to discuss how workers can upgrade skills, develop knowledge, and work with employers to take advantage of government initiatives in the two counties.

Swindon MP gives thumbs up to learning
Swindon MP Anne Snelgrove is today (Friday) set to find out for herself the value of workplace learning. Anne will call into the Trade Union Centre at New College, Swindon at 10am, where she will be briefed about unionlearn's work by regional manager Helen Cole. She will also be told about U-Net - the recently-launched network of learning centres across the South West.

Funding of SfL through learndirect Courses
This article clarifies the funding of SfL courses at levels lower than that which the learner has achieved.

WinWin at Merseylearn
Friday the thirteenth wasn't a bad day for Carol Crosbie as she became Merseylearn's newest learner. Carol was recruited by her workmate and ULR Mandy McFarlane as part of the U-Net WinWin campaign. Unison members Mandy and Carol will each receive a 1GB memory stick which should come in handy as they complete their Level 2 ITQ qualification.
