FBU Learning Centre, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service

The FBU has a growing network of learning centres throughout England that provide you with access to PCs and learning resources and deliver accredited courses and learning opportunities. The centres work in partnership with Further Education providers to deliver a range of courses and recognised qualifications in IT, Maths, English, Preparation for Life and Work, Health and Social Care and Business and Administration.

Courses can vary from short taster courses to extended programs of learning, which you can work through at your own pace to achieve recognised qualifications; accredited by City and Guilds, NCFE, and the BCS . All courses allow you the option to learn at your local FBU learning centre, at home, at work and at a time, day or night that suits you.

Learning Centre Staff and Project Support Organisers can also provide Information, Advice & Guidance to help you make the right decision on accessing new learning opportunities. If you are not sure about your first step back into learning or need help making the right decision about your next course or qualification then we can help you; we can also provide information that will help guide you to the right learning provider. Just contact our National Learning Centre Staff or your local Project Support Organiser and we can arrange a face to face meeting or discuss via telephone or even Skype.

Lara Scott can support you with Maths, English, IT and Distance Learning courses whilst giving you quality information and guidance. Helen Gagliasso can support you with course apprenticeships including the PT Level 3 and Kelseigh Marshall can support you with course administrative queries. Our team of Union Learning Representatives will support you locally to ensure that you complete the course successfully.

We welcome everyone to all the FBU learning centres over the age of 18, who is a member of a trade union, their immediate family, an employee within a company where trade unions are recognised and the wider Fire and Rescue Service Community.

The Learning Centres have internet access and are equipped with computers, laptops and numerous learning resources. Private rooms are available for one to one interviews and personal tuition. Courses are computer or work book based, but don't let that bother you! Where appropriate, our tutor led sessions and tutorials give you a blended approach to your learning to ensure that we accommodate your learning style and are given all the support you need.

Please contact your local union learning representatives to arrange a convenient date and time for an appointment or alternatively call or email.
