This week Union Learning Reps across the country focus on numeracy skills as unionlearn runs its annual Maths Workout Week – all part of its wider campaign promoting maths skills and supporting learners improve numeracy at work.
“Maths Workout Week” aims to raise awareness and promote maths learning opportunities by utilising unionlearn’s SkillCheck online assessment tool, share resources and highlight good practise.
The weeks focus will be to try out an initial assessment using SkillCheck – and anyone trying the online Maths quiz will get a free reusable, and collapsible, water bottle to keep them hydrated whist they learn.
SkillCheck is an online tool that gives users an opportunity to assess the level of their maths skills and look at progress routes to improving skills. As well as maths, SkillCheck also has quizzes on English and ICT.
Unionlearn will also be promoting Citizen Maths and the National Numeracy Challenge as ways to improve people’s confidence and skills when working with numbers.
Kevin Rowan, unionlearn Director, said:
