Get up to date on skills in Staffs and Stoke

Unionlearn will be hosting an event for trade unions and other partners showcasing learning and skills opportunities currently on offer within Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.

The event is for trade unions and other partners across the area and will be held on the 14th May 2018 in the GMB office in Hanley, Stoke.

The day will focus on the Career Learning Pilot in the area, one of five nationally which offer a range of free and subsidised courses, and will have presentations from Acacia Training, the National Careers Service, Staffordshire County Council, Stoke-on-Trent College (TBC) and unionlearn.

There will also be a presentation from Serco on the Skills Support for the Workforce in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.

Unionlearn Project Officer Matt Pointon said:

Career Leaning Pilots aim to support local businesses fill skills gaps and make it easier for adults to take part in training to help them get a new job or change career.”

It is important that unions understand how these pilots are intended to work so they can offer the best support possible to members in workplaces involved in the pilot– the day will bring together providers and others to update attendees on the opportunities for learning and skills that the pilots could offer.

The free event runs from 9.30 to 2.00. Refreshments and a buffet lunch will be provided, and there is free parking at the venue.
