Northern TUC offers small union learning grants

Unions in the north of England hoping to organise learning events in February or March will be able to bid for small pots of money from the Northern TUC.

The aim is to support learning tasters and programmes to keep the regional skills perspective live, and is in addition promote the new on-line rep support offer.

Beth Farhat, Regional Secretary from the Northern TUC, said:

I am delighted to let you know that grants of up to £250 are available to organise workplace learning events before the end of March 2017.

These will be available for learning centres, union branches, regional offices, Trade Union Education centres and community groups to put on events open to union members and the wider community."

The grant is available to support and run activities over the next couple of months and could include workplace learning events in lunchtimes, learning centre drop in sessions, advice session for workplace apprentices or whatever reps feel will support their colleagues.

Events could also be an ideal opportunity to make use of the unionlearn’s online assessment tool “Use-IT” to promote literacy, numeracy and IT skills at work. They might also offer a chance to run an eNote session.

Events must happen before the 31st March, and all paperwork and invoices related to the grant need to also be in by that date.
