POA Learning hold ADHA conference

POA Learning are holding the ADHD 2020 Conference – two days of fantastic guest speakers presenting a range of different topics around ADHD.

Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th October are the dates for the diary; there will be five sessions each day all being offered for free.

The union will be joined by award winning complementary therapist Giuliana Wheater who will present two sessions, the first looking at rewiring the neurological pathways inside the brain followed by therapies, tools and techniques which are proven to reset neurological pathways to grow a child to their full potential.

Author Phil Anderton will discuss ADHD in the criminal justice system sharing his experience as a former senior police officer in Lancashire and how he helped reduce the risk for young people with ADHD to offend.

Looking at strategies on how to work with reluctant learners at home and school will be the subject for Kevin J Roberts, an international speaker and author who has over 20 years’ experience in helping different learners to succeed. His second session will offer strategies on how to understand and beat cyber addiction.

POA Learning are also welcoming the founder of Kidz R Us, a youth theatre group and registered charity, Phil Barnett MBE. Phil has directed and produced three world premieres and is a recipient of the Queens Award for Voluntary Services and British Empire Medal for services to youth.

Phil will be discussing ways to increase confidence and assertiveness to those with low self-esteem and helping to boost communication skills.

Pulitzer-prize winning journalist Katherine Ellison will talk about what she has learned about ADHD through her own roller-coaster life and career. Having three published books on the subject of ADHD, Katherine was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 48 along with her 9 year old son so will have plenty to discuss during her session.

Our final presenter has made it a mission to be an advocate for Autism especially her two sons who both have the disorder. Anna Kennedy OBE runs her own charity annakennedyonline.com which is dedicated to promoting the inclusion and equality of children and adults with an Autism Spectrum Disorder throughout society.

On Tuesday 27th October after discussing her own experiences and work, she will introduce Jo Luck, a three time World Kickboxing Champion and one of the patrons of Anna’s charity who will explain the features of autism and ADHD from her own experiences and how to adapt to a dual diagnosis.

On Wednesday 28th October, Anna will introduce Paul Isaacs, and Autism Advocate, Speaker and Trainer who will be looking at autism and mindfulness.
