Open day in October will support learning in workplaces across London, the East and the South East of England. Register now to avoid missing this free event.
Unionlearn is kicking off a series of regional events for union learning reps with an event in London, 4 October 2018. It will be held at the Friends House in Euston, London.
The day will be packed with useful information and resources, including a unionlearn ‘Supporting Learners’ update, that focuses on national and regional initiatives and campaigns to support workplace learning.
Delegates will have a chance to hear the latest news on exciting new digital skills initiatives, the ‘National Retraining Scheme’ and more - with updates on apprenticeships and the TUC’s Education Team’s new offer to trade union reps and activists.
There will also be a workshop exploring mental health at work that will introduce unionlearn’s new ‘Mental Health First Aid’ offer.
Plenty of time will be allowed for reps to share their own experiences and knowledge of workplace learning. And there will be many opportunities to network.
Sam Gurney is the TUC: London, East and South East Regional Secretary and will open the conference. Sam said:
The regional TUC is delighted to be supporting the organisation of this event. Learning and skills are vital to the economy of every part of London, the East of England, and the South East. With productivity levels stuck in the doldrums raising the skill level of everyone in the labour force is a must.
And when meeting the challenge of change at work, and the new technology revolution, it is critical that there are support mechanisms that workers can trust to ensure that they can catch that wave rather than be left behind by it.
So unions and union learning reps have a vital role to play in supporting the continuing development of, and delivery of, high quality workplace skills and learning opportunities for all.”
Along with the latest news about our English and maths offers, the event will help participants to get up to speed on unionlearn’s new campaigns around mental health, digital skills and young workers. So this is an opportunity ULRs, and union members interested in workplace learning, really shouldn’t miss.”
Please book early to guarantee your place. This event is free to attend for all union reps and officers, and lunch will be provided.
The London event will be held on Thursday 4 October 2018 and will run from 10.00am am to 3.30 pm, at Friends Meeting House, 173 Euston Rd, London NW1 2BJ.
