TUC Northern is calling for nominations for regional awards that recognise the importance of union representatives in building the Trade Union movement in the workplace.
There are hundreds of representatives across the Northern region who devote much time and energy protecting and improving wages and conditions of their members. Often they deal with wider subjects such as, lifelong learning, pensions and redundancy while they invariably have to deal with the specific problems of individual members.
Amongst the categories is an award for Union Learning Rep
Beth Farhat, Regional Secretary from TUC Northern said:
The union rep awards are an annual recognition of the contribution union reps make. They are not intended as a competitive award, but instead a chance to highlight the invaluable difference that reps make to people at work every day.”
The awards will be at TUC Northern annual conference at the Great North Museum, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Please note that nominations close on Friday 15th February and need to be signed off by the appropriate regional officer in your union.
