Further information: Cornwall College is a very large general further education college with sites across much of Cornwall. It is a complex, widely-dispersed college. At the time of assessment, there were around 4,000 full-time students aged 16 to 18, 1,000 adult learners on full-time courses, and over 20,000 part-time learners, mainly adults. The College provides IT training, on site with laptops, distance and tutor led provision at Falmouth and Penzance Fire Stations (FBU), IT training on site with laptops, distance and tutor led provision at BT Goonhilly Satellite Station (CWU), and distance IT training at Truro BT Call Centre (CWU).

They were the first college in the region to work in partnership with Community TU and Unite to set up an on-site learning centre at a local leather processing company. Since that time they have developed their unionlearn and trade union work to include provision at union-led learning centres at GKN and Westlands. All companies in which Yeovil College has delivered apprenticeships, have been as a result of introductions from Unite.

Further information: The College offers Apprenticeship programmes in Devon that develop industry specific skills by combining work and training. Learning in college is delivered at one of Petroc's specialist training centres – North Devon or Mid-Devon Campuses – by qualified tutors and experienced practitioners. The Apprentice attends college on a day or block release basis depending on the occupational area. Petroc has an excellent track record of working in partnership with both trade unions and employer at Babcock, Appledore, Marine and naval support business. They sit on the Babcock Skills Steering Group, which meets approximately every 2 months. They have delivered and supported various courses including Skills For Life (prior to Functional Skills), ITQ Levels 1&2, Leadership and Management and plus Health and Safety.

Further information: Babcock International's (Marine and Technology Division) Appledore Shipyard has partnered the local FE/HE college (Petroc) as a learning provider for Apprenticeships, Adult Upskilling, Functional Skills and Management training as well as other ad hoc education requirements. Learning and Development is co-ordinated through a trade union partnership established in 2008. Since this time, 60 apprentices have started at the shipyard with the last intake of 10 being introduced through the Traineeship scheme.
