A GMB Union Learning Rep at Nottinghamshire County Council was named winner of the Andy Becker Union Learning Rep Award at the 2018 TUC Midlands Reps Awards Night – held this year at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
Danny Corfe was elected as a Union Learning Rep (ULR) with Usdaw in September 2008, joining a team of reps at Bakemark, now CSM, in Bromborough, Merseyside. During that time, Danny has progressed on to becoming the ULR coordinator for the on-site Learning Centre and built a new team of reps.
In late November unionlearn wrapped up its annual Supporting Learners series of regional events in Leeds. During the autumn unionlearn had held events across the country aimed at supporting Union Learning Reps and promoting workplace learning.
As a Learning Centre we like to engage with all national learning events we can. This is because it gives us extra resources and gives us a focus that we can add to our everyday Usdaw learning offer.

Workplace learning centres can go through peaks and troughs, and This was the case at DHL M&S in Swindon. But the dedicated work of the Unite branch and their team of Learning Reps has seen a big change, and the centre is once again thriving.
Digital Photography is always a popular choice amongst members when learning needs survey’s are carried out, and following a number of requests, POA Learning decided that a Camera Course be designed and delivered at the unions Hatfield Learning Centre over a period of four weeks this year.
