United Road Transport Union (URTU)

Geoff Goodswen is a member of transport workers union URTU and recently took up the union’s learning offer to improve his digital skills with Learn My Way.

Transport workers union URTU has set up an online tournament to encourage members to get online and also help them increase confidence and digital skills.

The URTU Annual Learning Conference was held at the De Vere Orchard Hotel, Nottingham last March. The unions ULR’s and Project Workers gathered with colleagues from the CWU to hear about updates and find new ways to support learners.

Over the summer Clipper Logistics at Ollerton, Nottinghamshire held a presentation event for the learners who had successfully completed City & Guilds qualifications.

In late spring this year URTU organised a two-day Mental Health First Aider Training course. This took place in Milton Keynes and was open to union members and management.

Road transport union URTU’s successful learning project is helping members keep pace with new technology and automation in road haulage, logistics and distribution.

Last autumn a union learning project run by URTU (United Road Transport Union) hosted a joint training event with the Communication Workers Union (CWU) to promote good mental health at work.

The first of a number of learning event days at Warburton Eastwood in Nottingham took place last November thanks to the work of Union Learning Reps (ULRs) from URTU.
