The big bang is an annual event which brings together engineering and science careers and apprenticeships. Unite and unionlearn were there this year to highlight quality apprenticeships and demonstrate how trade unions are playing their part in supporting young people.

During the 4 days, over 75,000 young people came through the doors and we were able to engage with over 5000 of those visitors.

We distributed leaflets on your rights as an apprentice and provided leaflets for young girls looking to go into engineering. Over 100 maths tests were carried out with school children and conducted a seminar for an audience of around 50 on the support unions give to young people and was backed by young women apprentices from MBDA engineering who provided real life experiences of young people in the workplace.

In addition a number of schools and other organisations are interested in follow up work with Unite and unionlearn and partnership work with them.
