Higher learning at work is about ways to progress in your learning. Higher learning is for everybody, and many opportunities are suitable for workplace learning.
Traditional entry requirements may not be necessary – your life and work experience will make a difference, and you can learn about higher level study skills as you go along.
Higher level learning (HE) leads to qualifications at Level 4 or above, such as degrees, Foundation degrees, higher national diplomas, NVQs Level 4 and 5 and other professional qualifications.
However, it is not all about qualifications, you can also do small chunks of learning as CPD (Continuing Professional Development) to bring your skills and knowledge up to date.
Unionlearn and its partners, the Open University, the National Careers Service (NCS), Linking London and the Sector Skills Councils have created a range of resources to help you to find out more about the different routes and pathways you can take through higher learning. The resources give access to information about funding available to make your learning more affordable and, if you are a union member, there may be special discounts and bursaries arranged through your union or unionlearn.
These resources will be useful to you if you are a union member or a rep, and also to all other working adults interested in progressing to higher learning, including apprentices. If you are a workplace mentor, tutor or assessor or a Human Resources professional or training officer you will find a range of resources to help you to advise learners, and you can check out ways of working with unions to change lives through learning.
Download or order a range of publications to help you in the workplace, including the higher learning at work series.
