Learner's story from Diodes in Oldham
Long-serving Diodes employee Christine Emmett describes some of the courses and activities she's done over the years to Steve Hewitt, Unite union learning fund (ULF) NW team at the Diodes Oldham, during their Learning at Work Day event.

Diodes are a global semiconductor manufacturer based in Texas with sites all over the world and their products are used in a variety of items such as portable DVD players, modems, medical devices, digital cameras, mobile phones, personal computers, notebooks, flat-panel displays, datacom devices and mobile handsets.
Learning at Work Week events are run annually at Diodes and feature fun and recreational activities set up by the employer working with Unite. Unite ULF NW also bring in their own resources on the day and this year, they brought in one of the union's service co-ordinators to advise on benefits and discounts, solicitors for wills advice and an insurance partner as well as offering advice on learning available through the union.
Diodes won an award from the Campaign for Learning and the Skills Funding Agency for the event in 2013. In their acceptance speech, they acknowledged the role of the union.
