Supporting apprentices through union learning
This year is the 13th National Apprenticeship Week and unionlearn will be once again supporting the week and backing this year’s Fire it up Campaign.
Over the last few years we have been promoting quality apprenticeships in workplaces with Union Learning Representatives giving advice, support and mentoring to those who require help.
We have signed significant agreements with Liverpool City Region and with West Midlands Combined Authority, the agreements are aiming to support thousands of apprentices in hundreds of workplaces. We are really pleased that these agreements cover a wide range of diverse communities. This support demonstrates the commitment to ensuring all our communities gain access to quality apprenticeships.
Our new Apprenticeship Essentials App enables individuals to check their own apprenticeship against a series of key questions.
The App enables users to look at issues in a positive way directing the user to the person who can help most, that person could be the trade union representative, the provider or the frontline manager. We have even built in a pay calculator which is without doubt the most popular section of the App.
This year the National Apprenticeship Week Fire It Up campaign is looking at diversity, and unionlearn are already ahead of the curve. Unionlearn have developed a range of tools to support trade union representatives on a number of diversity issues. We have commenced to develop working relationships with BAME groups looking at breaking down the barriers that stop or hold back BAME groups accessing apprenticeships.
