Inter-union co-operation ensures ECDL success
PCS member Richard Murphy recently passed his ECDL exams at the FBU Speke Learning Centre, Merseyside.
The FBU learning centres – nationally at Cramlington, Northumberland and regionally in West Hartford, Northumberland, Speke Fire Station, Merseyside, London Fire Brigade HQ, Avon Fire and Rescue Service and West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, offer a range of courses to members, colleagues, family, friends and the wider community and this includes members of other unions and workplaces.
FBU Union Learning Fund Project Manager Mark Dunne said
We are getting to that time of year where we are starting to have large numbers of ECDL completions within the academic year. Some of our project staff are also trained as ECDL invigilators so as they can allocate the diagnostics and exams from the awarding body, The British Computer Society. They can also ensure that the students are aware of all the rules and regulations. This combines the necessary complete impartiality for the students and invigilators with the right supportive environment for our students to achieve their desired qualification."

I enjoyed all aspects of the course especially the flexibility to learn in my own time."
