The PFA & unionlearn's "Achievement Through Sport" programme hosted an Inspiring Education evening in association with the Jason Roberts Foundation (JRF) at the Hilton Wembley. The evening was supported by a number of local stakeholders and football clubs including Uxbridge College, West Ham United FC Foundation and QPR In the Community Trust.

The evening aimed to encourage young people and adults residing within inner city London to get involved with the Jason Roberts Foundation Sports & Educational programmes. The Hyde Development League – 'Where Education & Sport Meet', develops life skills in young people by providing short educational courses and volunteering opportunities in a number of different fields including coaching, refereeing, physiotherapy, catering, website design, journalism and administration.

Premier League star, Michail Antonio, who currently plays for West Ham United FC, attended the evening to speak about his own inspiring journey from Non-League football. Michail said:

My mom always said that education comes before football and I was fortunate to get my diploma in sport whilst trying to making the grade at the lower echelons of the game. It’s great to see so many enthusiastic young people here this evening looking to be part of such a fantastic programme that will develop them as individuals and footballers."

Jason Roberts MBE, Founder and Trustee of the JRF said:

I’m excited and confident that we can offer young people opportunities and the skill set that they otherwise would not have got. I’m thankful for all the people who have joined us this evening and who have shown the Foundation support over the years. The PFA/ULF support has allowed us to put on this excellent evening and we look forward to working more closely together to offer even more opportunities for young people to progress within education and sport."

PFA/ULF Project Worker Riz Rehman added:

Tonight was a great example of the excellent work being carried out by our members charitable foundations and the partnerships being grown with club community trusts and foundations. Young people will leave this evening feeling enthused and inspired after speaking with current and former Premier League players as well as the inspirational Stein brothers whose own career paths after playing included teaching and physiotherapy."
