POA Learning have been developing community links with the West Devon community for several years. These strong links have been providing learning opportunities for local community learners and employees across the area. The quality of courses and Information, Advice and Guidance available from POA Learning is now common knowledge within many West Devon communities.

Not to miss an opportunity to serve their local community further POA Learning staff Kevin Watts and Ivan Judd recently attended a local Dementia Conference at The Wharf in Tavistock.

The Dementia Conference was an opportunity to network with mental health professionals, to share the experience of carers as well as discovering what is happening in research and technology to improve the lives of those living with dementia.

During the conference Ivan and Kevin were able to display and discuss the accredited training courses that POA Learning have to offer learners such as:

• Mental Health Awareness Level 2
• Dementia Awareness Level 2
• Equality & Diversity Level 2
• Safe Handling of Medicines Level 2

As well as the above the conference permitted POA Learning to network and liaise with staff and volunteers from:

• Launceston Memory Cafe
• Purple Angel - Raising awareness of Dementia
• Prestige Nursing & Care
• Healthy Living UK
• Admiral Nursing

Andy Harding, HMP Dartmoor POA Learning Centre Manager remarked that:

The conference gave local dementia focused organisations an opportunity to obtain awareness of exactly what POA Learning can offer community based health care professionals in relation to union lead learning.  The training available from POA Learning is of the highest quality and free at the point of delivery.
