Successful Learning Week for UNISON in Nottinghamshire

Nottinghamshire UNISON engaged more than 120 members of staff and recruited half a dozen new members during its very successful Learning Week in May.

To spread the word about the wide range of courses available through the branch, Lifelong Learning Co-ordinator Tina Carnachan organised promotional stands at two of the council’s four main offices, County Hall in West Bridgford and Meadow House in Mansfield.

Steward Gael Ellis and ULR Everton Lewis-Gordon helped Tina staff the stall at Meadow House, where they gained six new members and talked to 68 people about learning opportunities. Regional Learning and Development Organiser Gavin McCann joined Tina at County Hall, where they engaged 70 people about the courses they could take.

Skills Pledge being signed

In addition, council leader Alan Rhodes and new chief executive Anthony May signed the Skills Pledge during the week, to show their commitment to helping all staff reach at least Level 2.

A branch PDF covering the event is also available.
