Sussex learning pilot a success says UNISON

West Sussex Branch is surveying members in the county council and Capita about the learning they are interested in, after a successful pilot run by Education Officer Mervyn Sams late last year.

Mervyn said:

The results of the survey will form the basis of the learning and development opportunities we will then deliver, depending on the funding that is available."

The survey follows four lunch ’n’ learn sessions in the autumn that attracted close to 100 participants from West Sussex County Council, Capita, Chichester District Council and Hyde Housing Association.

The popular sessions covered “Identifying Your Skills”, “Improving Your Confidence”, “Managing Your Money” and “Tackling Stress” (which attracted the most participants), with tutors supplied by Sussex Downs College in Newhaven.

Last summer, the branch signed a learning agreement with Capita, which has been running the county council’s back office functions since 2012.
