ULR Award winners Jane Eyre and Beverly Herring
Each year the unionlearn Annual Conference recognises the hard work of Union Learning Reps (ULR) and encourages unions to nominate reps for the ULR of the year awards. The awards are presented to ULRs to showcase how they are making a difference and changing people’s lives through union learning.
This year UNISON ULRs Jane Eyre and Beverly Herring from Blackpool Victoria Hospital Trust were presented with the award for Supporting Learners with Numeracy Skills.
Their nomination quoted:
Jane and Bev have both come on in leaps and bounds. Both of them were very reserved when they came on the ULR course. They straightaway saw how they could use learning as a recruitment tool and they ran with it.
Most people start off small, but they started off with the Numeracy Challenge, getting the whole Trust involved. What stands out with both of them is that they’re inspiring people."
Here is a video about Jane and Bev and the work they have been doing.
