ULR Award winner Neil Crothall

Each year the unionlearn Annual Conference recognises the hard work of Union Learning Reps (ULR) and encourages unions to nominate reps for the ULR of the year awards. The awards are presented to ULRs to showcase how they are making a difference and changing people’s lives through union learning.

This year CWU Branch Lead ULR Neil Crothall from the Great Western Branch in Bristol was presented with the award for Supporting Disadvantaged Learners in the Workplace.

His nomination highlighted:

Neil has transformed the CWU learning centre in the Bristol area of the Great Western Branch, has dramatically raised the profile of the CWU by introducing events that have encapsulated new learning, educational and social skills.

Neil has been proactive working throughout the South West Region, working in partnership with BT on the unemployed youth project where he has been participating as the main tutor to equip and teach unemployed young people the skills necessary to progress within the job market."
