BFAWU offer free online environmental course

The BFAWU has linked up with learning provider The Learning Curve to offer new qualifications for people wanting to develop their understanding of environmental issues.

Environmental awareness

The Level 1 or 2 Certificate in Understanding Climate Change and Environmental Awareness is being offered to as part of the unions move to promote green issues in the workplaces they have members in.

Project Manager Lisa Greenfield said:

Sustainability is quickly becoming a high priority for many businesses, and the BFAWU have recently be working with companies such as Greggs to offer members environmental training that can be used to not only reduce the carbon footprint of the workplace, but also help members be greener at home and in the community.”

Making moves towards becoming a ‘greener’ organisation can also provide cost saving initiatives, such as reducing waste or saving energy.

This qualification covers the nature of climate change and the role that individuals, businesses and other organisations play in helping to reduce carbon emissions.

This course gives the knowledge and understanding for individuals to act as drivers of positive change within the workplace and at home.

The course is carried out online and has includes a number of units.

  • Understand climate change, sustainability and environmental protection
  • Understand industry and the environment
  • Understand resource efficiency and waste management
