Birkbeck, University of London has a couple of events coming up over the next few weeks that will help ULR’s and union members across the capital improve skills and build confidence.
The events take place both in Birkbeck’s central London site in Bloomsbury and their Stratford campus - and are free.
On Thursday 17th October from 6 - 8 pm at the Stratford Campus Birkbeck is hosting a free interview workshop aimed at anyone who is currently facing change at work, to support them with building confidence for interviews, and help them to feel more in control during the process.
Places for the free Interview Skills / Building Confidence workshop can be booked here.
The second session is a Bringing Higher Education to Union Learners workshop for Union Learning Reps and Branch Learning Coordinators will take place on Friday 1st November from 1 - 5 pm.
This workshop follows on from a highly successful event this summer and will include tips on choosing a course and how peer mentoring can support learning, as well as information on student loans and other financial support available for university study.
Places for the ULR Skills Session are free and available on a first come first served basis here.
Sophie Swain is Outreach & Access Officer at Birkibeck, University of London, said:
A key focus of my role is offering union members, particularly those without a first degree, free learning activities and information, advice and guidance to support them with their journey to higher education and decision making around their next steps.”
Our Autumn programme of events offers members a chance to dip their toe into university learning and boost their confidence around interviews, and we'll also be holding another session for ULRs, to help them to feel informed about the university process when speaking to members.”
This time we’re presenting an overview of Student Finance, a look at how peer mentoring can support learners and giving some tips about choosing a course"
