The latest unionlearn Learning & Skills Policy Update is now out and packed full of information aimed at keeping unions and stakeholders up to speed on recent learning and skills policy developments.

The update highlights new resources developed by unionlearn to support union reps to boost learning and skills opportunities in the workplace.

This edition of the policy update covers the FE and Skills White Paper and the latest on the National Skills Fund. It also highlights some new apprenticeship developments, including a new flexi-job apprenticeship scheme.

The latest edition of the newsletter highlights that the white paper was a missed opportunity to boost retraining and skills. Much more investment is needed to fully reinstate the Level 2 and 3 skills entitlements for adults abolished ten years ago and to give all workers the right to retrain. To make this a reality there needs to be a much greater increase in adult skills funding delivered through lifelong learning accounts and a number of associated reforms to give workers entitlements to paid time off to learn and access to mid-life skill reviews.
