Unionlearn have published a new guide for union learning reps (ULRs) supporting digital skills development in the workplace.
“Working to close the digital divide - A guide for ULRs supporting digital skills” is a brand new resource for unions and union learning reps (ULRs) to support digital learning and the benefits it brings for colleagues at home and in work.
It sets out the case for change to encourage employers to support workers to gain digital skills and confidence. It contains ideas and good practice, and provides some tips developed from a range of unions and ULRs.
Unionlearn Director Kevin Rowan said:
Whichever way you look at it, having good digital skills is vital for work and life outside work. Unions recognised this long ago and have done a stellar job in supporting people in the workplace with improving their skills in using computers, making sense of the internet and harnessing email – to name just a few.”
A large number of people still need help with updating their digital skills and union learning reps are here for them. Union learning reps are champions of learning in the workplace but all of us can step up and be digital champions.”
