Unionlearn has produced two new training sessions to tie in with the Cutting Carbon, Growing Skills publication. They are for Union Learning Reps, Green Reps or other activists interested in green skills and sustainable workplaces to deliver to colleagues.

The first training session is an hour in length and will help learners:

• Explore the connection between climate change and work
• Examine the relationship between moving to a net-zero carbon economy and green skills
• Assess the range of green skills and related issues as they impact the workplace, sector, region and wider economy
• Review how climate change responses may impact on the jobs and skills requirements of course members
• Explore sections of the TUC’s Cutting Carbon, Growing Skills publication and how it can support action in the workplace

Session two is half day in length. It goes into more depth, and will help learners:

• Evaluate current climate change policies
• Raise membership awareness on why climate action needs to be a trade union priority
• Conduct a skills survey
• Prepare for a green skills audit
• Formulate a skills claim to present to the employer as part of a just transition strategy
• Explore sections of the TUC’s Cutting Carbon, Growing Skills publication and how it can support action in the workplace
• Access other climate change resources
• Outline a green skills action plan.
