Trade Union Apprenticeship Standard – webinar next week

Trade Union Apprenticeship Standard – webinar next week

Unions have been working to produce an apprenticeship standard for trade union organisers, and next Monday there is an opportunity to learn about England's first and only Trade Union Apprenticeship.

The standard has been approved by the Institute for Apprentices and Technical Education and is called the Apprenticeship for Trade Union Officials and open to all Trade Unions and other organisations such as Staff Associations and Professional/Trade Associations covering a broad range of industries and sectors.

The standard includes key skills elements some of which are communication, research, organising and negotiation skills.  These skills will enable a trade union official to support working people, along with identifying and dealing with issues and disputes.

This webinar will cover the new standard and detail what the apprenticeship covers:

  • Organising and Campaigning
  • Legislation
  • Developing People
  • Personal Development

The webinar will be presented by:

  • Matt Pointon – unionlearn projects officer
  • Sarah McConnell – TSSA Head of HR
  • Paul di Felice – Principal Ruskin College

Matt said:

In developing the standard all the Trade Unions involved were quick to understand the true value of quality apprenticeships. Particularly in terms of pay, terms and conditions, health and safety and access to quality training for all apprentices in a workplace.”

Join us next week to hear about the standard and the development opportunities it can offer trade union officers.”

The webinar takes place on Monday 11th January at 2 pm and free registration is through the Trade Union Apprenticeship Standard link.
