A new course from TUC Education in the South West will help reps explore environmental issues at work and champion green workplaces.
Trade union representatives have a critical role to play in changing employer attitudes towards ‘greening’ the workplace and campaigning for a safer, healthier working and living environment.
Reps are achieving energy savings and huge cost benefits for their employers. Small steps, such as recycling paper or turning off lights, can make an enormous difference. Raising awareness and educating members will give them a better understanding of environmental issues.
This course is for union reps who may have an environmental role in the workplace, are thinking about how union representation should be organised in the workplace and would find a general awareness of environmental issues useful.
The two day takes place in the TUC South West office in Filton, Bristol and course will help attendees:
• raise awareness of environmental issues
• understand workplace impact assessments
• review trade union policies and workplace strategies
• assess environmental information and sources

We face a climate emergency and the need to protect our environment is a matter for every workplace. The course will cover the role of the Green Rep in workplaces and should be of interest to reps taking on this role or those in the branch who have and interest in bargaining around the green agenda.
The Green Reps course runs on 21st and 22nd April. For more details contact Alison Foster at [email protected]
