As part National Apprenticeship Week today is Thank You Thursday, and unionlearn is keen to thank all the trade unionists up and down the country who are committed to ensuring every apprentice has a quality experience.

Apprenticeships have long been a core part of union work, and unionlearn are today delighted to announce that the Bakers Food and Allied Workers Union will continue that commitment to quality, and later this month will sign the unionlearn Apprenticeship Charter.

Signing on behalf of the BFAWU and its members will be Sarah Woolley General Secretary of BFAWU who says:

The Bakers Food and Allied Workers union are committed to ensuring every apprentice we engage with will be treated fairly, have the training they need and have support from our representatives. 

She added,

Our lifelong learning commitment to our members remains strong and our negotiators will endeavour to negotiate apprenticeship charters with employers”.

Paul Nowak Deputy General Secretary of the TUC stated:

I am delighted to sign the Charter on behalf of the TUC and unionlearn. I congratulate and thank the BFAWU on its proactive approach to not only apprenticeship skills but to the wider learning agenda.”

Unionlearn and the TUC’s unions will continue to strive to ensure every apprentice has a chance to build a future we know this is best done with Trade Union support.

Lisa Greenfield Project Manager for the BFAWU added

The food sector faces many challenges building the future and lifelong learning play a key role in our support for members.”

We will strive to do our best for all our members, I take this opportunity to thank the learning team in supporting quality apprenticeships.”

Mark Rowe unionlearn’s National Apprenticeship Project Officer said

The drive and determination from the BFAWU demonstrates that union support is vital to enable individuals to succeed in their chosen careers”

So today during National Apprenticeship Week #NAW2021 unionlearn thanks the BFAWU for their commitment and look forward to the signing ceremony appearing on BFAWU and unionlearn websites shortly.
