Birkbeck workshop explores taking your first steps to university

Unionlearn and Birkbeck, University of London, are joining together to deliver a live, online workshop is especially for trade union members and reps who are thinking about coming to university to study their first degree.

Taking steps

Whether it’s still just an idea or if you’ve found a subject you’d love to study further, if you've never been to university, and want to know how to go about it, then this event is for you!

The workshop takes place on Wednesday 30th September in the afternoon and 14:00–15:30 is particularly relevant for learners who have been out of formal study for a significant period of time, and will assume that attendees will have little to no previous experience/ knowledge of studying at university.

The session is being delivered by Birkbeck, University of London, an institution which has a strong relationship with unionlearn and a number of different unions, and a long, proud history of welcoming working Londoners from all backgrounds and walks of life.

Under normal circumstances, courses at Birkbeck are largely face-to-face so those based in London and the South East might find our offer most relevant although all are welcome to join this event.

It is hoped that all participants will leave reassured that they're not alone in their journey and it’s never too late to study at university, whatever your previous experience of education!

The workshop runs from 14.00 – 15.30 on 30th September. For more information and to register for a free space on the workshop go to the unionlearn event page.
