Festival of Learning focuses on Supporting Mid-Life Development

This week, as part of the ongoing Autumn Festival of Learning, unionlearn will be focusing on mid-life development and the resources available to union learning reps and learners.

With workers retiring later in life many people will now work in a number of different areas in their working lives, and mid-life development is vital to keep skills up to date.

New and old case studies will be posted up across the week to highlight the ways that unions and ULRs have been supporting older workers and mid-life development.

There will also be a focus on recent publications such as the new Smart Choices booklet and the Getting Active resource pack.

As part of the week unionlearn and Birkbeck, University of London, are holding an online workshop, “Get Started: Taking your first steps to university”.

This is an ideal opportunity for older learners to find out more about who are thinking about coming to university to study their first degree. It is particularly relevant for people have been out of formal study for a significant period of time.

The week is also the ideal opportunity to look at your transferable skills with the unionlearn Value My Skills online tool.

All this information and more is pulled together on the Supporting Mid-life Development page on the unionlearn website.

The Autumn Festival of Learning continues until this November with a packed programme – register on the unionlearn website to keep up to date with the very latest news and events information.
