Get reading with the Unionlearn Isolation Book Club

As part of the unionlearn Learning @ Home campaign unionlearn are launching a new “Isolation Book Club” today – tying in with World Book Night.

The Isolation Book Club will initial feature short book reviews from unionlearn project worker Matt Pointon and encourage people to get involved and try out Matts book selections and submit their own comments.

The book reviews will be on the unionlearn Learning @ Home page and, over the coming weeks, unionlearn hopes to encourage others to join in with their own book reviews to add to the site and increase the number of books covered.

Matt said:

During this time of lockdown and isolation many people are picking up a book and getting back into the reading habit. We thought it would be a nice idea to have people review their favourite books and encourage friends and colleagues to share suggestions.”

We decided that we would launch this to tie in with the fantastic annual World Book Night – which for the first time is going to be a virtual event.”

To find out more about this year’s World Book Night go to their website.

Matt’s first review for the Isolation Book Club is of one of the World Book Night selections – “North and South” by Elizabeth Gaskell. You can see Matt’s review on the new Isolation Book Club page. We will also post this on the unionlearn social media pages so you can add comments. Future reviews will include Jo Nesbo, Kate Mosse and more.

If you would like to submit a review of one of you own favourite books unionlearn would love to hear from you. Email Matt ([email protected]) and he can give you details of the format we need.
